Boston Celtics All-Star shooting guard Jaylen Brown received five stitches after lacerating his hand while picking up a broken glass vase Thursday. Brown showed up to the locker room of Friday’s game with a heavily bandaged right hand. He expects to be ready for the playoffs.

The stitches are on Jaylen Browns’ shooting hand, and with the playoffs beginning in less than a week, he’ll need to recover quickly. If he were to miss time, it would be a favorable matchup as the Celtics are the No. 2 seed and would play against the Maimi Heat or Atlanta Hawks in the first round. Even without the NBA All-Star, who averaged 26.6 points in 2023, the Celtics would still be favored as Malcolm Brogdon would slot into the starting lineup in his absence. Brogdon is a favorite for the sixth man of the year and has averaged 14.9 points this season. Along with Brogdon, Jayson Tatum, who averaged 30.1 points, would be expected to carry the load during Browns’ absence.

Suppose this is a nagging injury that affects his jump shot into the second round of the NBA playoffs. In that case, there’d be worries about an early exit as the Celtics are expected to play against the Philadelphia 76ers. This is a series where Brown needs to be in full health, as both teams are favorites to play in the NBA Finals.
