The injury bug continues to hit the Los Angeles Chargers. This time it might have hit harder. Joey Bosa suffered a groin injury on Sunday and is to undergo surgery and may be sidelined for more time than hoped for. Though the Chargers’ defensive end will return this season.

Bosa is not the only injury that the Chargers suffered on Sunday against Jacksonville; Wide Receiver Jalen Guyton tore his ACL. He will miss the rest of the season. The depth of this team is about to be tested with the total number of key players injured now at seven in just the first three weeks.

Los Angeles Chargers Injuries:

  • Justin Herbert (Rib Cartilage Fracture) – Played through the injury Sunday
  • Rashawn Slater (Biceps tear) – Out for the season
  • Keenan Allen (hamstring) – Has already missed two games
  • Corey Linsley (knee injury) – Missed Sundays game
  • J.C. Jackson (Ankle) – Missed Sunday’s game
  • Jalen Guyton (ACL) – Out for the season
  • Joey Bosa (Groin) – Out four to eight weeks

In the offseason, the Chargers retooled their defense with the additions of Khalil Mack, J.C. Jackson, Sebastian Joseph-Day, Austin Johnson, and more. With the additions that the LA made, it looked as if they would have one of the best defenses in the league. Now, that will be rendered as the Chargers will have to rely on someone else on the defensive line.

Bosa has become of the most efficient defensive ends in the league today. He was the Defensive Rookie of the year in 2016 and has been to the pro-bowl four times. He has been a workforce on defense, reaching double digits in sacks four out of his first six years in the league. It was looking as if he may add another to that resume this season. Now, he may fall just short. He will be out for at least four games, but a longer absence that could extend to two months might be in play.
