Blake Snell Juan Soto

The New York Yankees were pretty persistent about building a winner this offseason. As spring training rolls on, many top free agents remain available. One of those is a former teammate of Juan Soto and former two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell. According to SNY, the reports still show that Snell won’t sign with the Yankees. However, that won’t stop the premier outfielder from pushing the move to be made.

“It would be unbelievable to have two Cy Young winners going back to back, it’d be great,” Soto told Jon Heyman of The New York Post. “[Snell’s] a great guy, a great player. Any help that we can get I would love.”

Pending any other moves, the Yankees are expected to deploy a rotation that features Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, Nestor Cortes, Marcus Stroman and Clarke Schmidt. Though, adding an upgrade in the form of Blake Snell definitely wouldn’t hurt.

“I know if he’s coming over,” Added Soto. “he’s going to help the team big-time. It’s always great to have great talent on the team. I would never say no. So it’s a great fit for him, I think.”

The two players are both represented by Scott Boras, so it’s likely that Snell is still looking for the best price on the market. In fact, four of the top free agents on the market up until last weekend are all represented by Boras. They were coined “The Boras four.” Cody Bellinger just re-signed with the Chicago Cubs, but Snell, Jordan Montgomery and Matt Chapman are still on the market.

“I think (Snell) he’s just waiting for the perfect spot for him,” Soto told The Post. “It is what it is. It happened before, with [Manny] Machado, and with [Bryce] Harper. Those guys signed late, in spring training. They were asking for the money, and they got it.”
