Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers fell in a close battle to the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night. However, the Chargers QB, who missed one play (by rule) appeared to be injured throughout much of the second half. During that play, we got to see America’s backup, 35-year-old Chase Daniel.
The injury appeared to have affected his play, passing up on a chance to run for a first down while feeling some discomfort. However, he immediately had X-Rays done after the game, and head coach Brandon Staley reported that Justin Herbert will be “OK.” He doesn’t expect it to be an issue going forward.
Rest for Justin Herbert
With the Chargers playing on Thursday Night, they now have three extra days before their next game. This will allow Herbert more time to rest his abdomen and ribs, which is also where he pointed to on the sidelines. Though there is no guarantee he won’t miss time, you can officially list Herbert as questionable for week three against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Without his Star receiver, and amidst the pain Herbert was still able to shine for LA. He completed 33 of his 48 passes for a total of 334 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Although the apparent injury stopped him on the one play, Herbert was able to bring the Chargers within striking distance with a minute to play.
BAD NEWS
In the light of the good news, comes some bad as well. The Chargers have a problem that needs to be fixed right away. Justin Herbert has been pressured 30+ times in two games. Most of this time, he has been able to get rid of the ball, only being sacked twice, but nonetheless, this is an issue that needs to be resolved if the Chargers want to keep their playmaker happy and healthy.
