The Kansas City Royals are another team with a lot trending in the direction of competing. They may not compete this season, but they could in two-three years from now. They have four talented young players that the new front office could build around. Check out our Kansas City Royals 2023 Preview:

With Zack Greinke returning, he most likely will slot in as the ace of an otherwise young starting rotation with guys that have upside. The Royals picked up Jordan Lyles and Ryan Yarbrough in the offseason. Both of whom, have shown flashes of their potential over the years. They just haven’t put it all together quite yet. They’ll have a talented young pitcher in Brady Singer returning for his fourth season. The rotation looks stronger than the bullpen heading into the 2023 season. Though, the Royals did pick up hard-throwing right hander Aroldis Chapman as well.

The lineup is where the Royals will most likely be the most successful in 2023, and it depends on if Picollo makes some trades or not. That was one of Dayton Moore’s downsides, he didn’t like to make trades. However, in the lineup, not only do they have Salvador Perez but they have three very talented young fielders in Bobby Witt Jr., MJ Melendez, and Vinnie Pasquantino.

If they want to be competitors within the next few seasons, the Royals front office would be smart to build around the young core that they were given by their predecessors. With a new group in control, there is a lot to be excited about with the future of this team.
