Keith Lee & Swerve Win AEW Tag Team Gold!

Keith Lee & Swerve Win Tag Team Gold at AEW’s Fyter Fest. They faced The Young Bucks, and Team Taz (Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs) in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match.

Up until around this, Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland had been spending most of their time on AEW’s YouTube show, called Dark. Many fans had come to believe that Keith Lee and his partner wouldn’t get a serious push. That perhaps Tony Khan had forgotten about them. However, they became the champions in a title change so sudden, that no one had thought it was coming.

The original plan to beat Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus for the tag titles had been the Hardy Brothers. However, Jeff Hardy’s arrest ensured that could never happen. Instead, the Young Bucks won the title. It looked like the Young Bucks were well set to go up against FTR in a match for the titles at an upcoming PPV. However, they suddenly lost at Fyter Fest.

However, the finish has some criticism about it. The Young Bucks did not take the pin. Very often in these matches, the Young Bucks don’t get pinned. It’s very rarely happened just this very year. They took a pin against FTR in a match on Dynamite. However, at Revolution, it was ReDragon that lost. The Bucks have been accused of being unwilling to put over most talent. Whether that is true or not, it isn’t for this article to say. What do you think?

Whatever the result, Team Taz took the fall, and Swerve in Our Glory, which is the name of the team, became the champions. It seems unlikely that this will be a long run. Some predictions already state that FTR will win the titles as soon as the match is booked.

Regardless, this writer is happy for Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland for having a moment or two to shine.
