The Brooklyn Nets have traded Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for both players and picks. The Mavericks are exchanging Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, a 2029 first-round pick and two second-round picks for the superstar point guard.
After reports of the Lakers and Clippers having heavy interest in Irving, the Mavericks evidently intensified their trade talks this Sunday to complete a deal. Irving, who requested a trade just a few days ago, will be pairing up with the young phenom Luka Doncic. The Mavericks have been under heavy scrutiny recently from fans and media accusing them of building poorly around Doncic. This acquisition is far and away their most aggressive.
The Doncic and Kyrie Irving Mavericks backcourt will be expected to be one of the most dangerous duos in the league. However, Irving has played in just 150 games over the last four seasons. But when he does lace up, he is still one of the best players in the league. Kyrie is averaging 27 pts, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in addition to his high efficiency this season.
This is breaking news. More to come.
