Illegal streaming websites have become a popular thing amongst fans. It’s a way for fans to watch sports and save money on expensive cable or streaming services. That’s not a good excuse for LeBron James who was caught in the act on Friday.
While LeBron James was at a Nike EYBL tournament watching his AAU team, Team Strive For Greatness. The person sitting next to him pulled up the Dallas Mavericks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Western Conference Finals game on StreamEast, one of the most popular illegal streaming sites.
James can afford anything he wants. However, he was caught in public using StreamEast. That’s a bad look for one of the league’s all-time greats. Nobody will be able to defend him for piracy. This is a very stupid move. Buying into a streaming service like Hulu or YouTube TV is a lot better than using StreamEast for critical games. The process of closing out ads on Stream East alone probably takes longer than buying a subscription. You can even use your cable account in remote locations nowadays. I know people who do that.
Not to mention, streaming websites are super shady. They’re unreliable, they’re littered with pop-up ads. Sometimes you can catch a break from all of that, but for LeBron to be caught using any illegal streaming service is ridiculous.
People who use Stream East when they’re on a budget and they don’t have $75 a month, that they can fork out for a streaming service. That’s somewhat understandable. At the same time though, it’s still illegal and could get someone in a lot of trouble due to copyright issues.
