Nick Saban

Nick Saban, arguably one of the greatest coaches in college football history will join ESPN. This was announced Wednesday following recent news of his retirement from the University of Alabama.

After announcing his retirement in January, which put an end to one of the most successful runs in college football history, Saban didn’t take long to find a new home close to college football.

The former Alabama head coach will work mainly as an analyst for ESPN’s “College GameDay“.

Nick Saban will also be a part of ESPN’s NFL Draft coverage, and he will also be doing SEC Media Days on different ESPN platforms, including the SEC Network.

Saban has been a guest on “College GameDay” multiple times over the years. He now joins the crew that includes Rece Davis, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, and Pat McAfee.

In his 17 seasons with Alabama, Saban tied Vince Dooley by winning 201 games. That would give Saban the second-most wins at a single school in SEC history. In addition, Saban has won six national titles and nine SEC titles.

Throughout his 28-year tenure as a college head coach, he won 19 bowl games, 12 conference titles, and seven national championships. Saban never experienced a losing season.

After spending two years as an NFL coach with the Miami Dolphins, he returned to college football. Furthermore, in his seventeen seasons at Alabama, he won more games (201) than the Crimson Tide did in the twenty-four seasons that passed between Bryant’s retirement and Saban’s hire (171).

This move is a big win for ESPN and “College GameDay” which has been a staple of college football coverage. The broadcast has traveled across the country to different campuses for 30 years. Saban will only add popularity to the show that continues to grow year after year.
