Anfield welcomes Wolves for the second time this season. The first meeting was in the third round of the FA Cup where Wolves crawled back to draw the game and confirm a replay at Molineux. Harvey Elliot’s first half dagger was enough to put Liverpool into the next round of the prestigious cup.
They now clash horns once again in an important game for both sides. Liverpool can regain some much needed momentum as they fight for top four while Wolves can move up to 13th. Here are both the positives and negatives from Liverpool’s performance.
Positives
Nunez
Another emphatic performance from the Uruguayan striker. Despite his goal being ruled off for offside, his overall performance was brilliant.
Attitude
Liverpool took the game to Wolves. They approached the game with the right mindset and defended as a unit whenever they lost the ball.
Konate
The French defender has recovered from an injury and reminded Liverpool fans how crucial he is for the team. He defended on the front foot as well as dealt with everything that came at him.
Negatives
Unconvincing Performance
Performances don’t matter when you’re going through a bad run of form. The three points are all that’s required. However, Liverpool struggled for large spells of the game and are still far from their best. Nevertheless, they got a much needed victory before their meeting with the Red Devils on Sunday.
