Jon Jones is the greatest fighter in the history of combat sports, and he’s set to return at UFC 309. After tearing his shoulder last year many people thought we had seen the last of “Bones”, but the UFC Heavyweight champion will take on former title holder Stipe Miocic in a battle of future hall of famers.

Miocic is considered one of the greatest Heavyweights in promotion history, and holds wins over Francis Ngannou, Daniel Cormier, and Fabricio Werdum. Miocic has not competed since his knockout loss in 2020 in a rematch with Ngannou.

In the Co-Main event former Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira will face “Iron” Michael Chandler for the second time. Chandler was scheduled for a bout with Conor McGregor but after the sport’s biggest star pulled out of their scheduled fight in June, Chandler decided he should turn the page and look for new opponents.

Oliveira is the UFC’s all-time leader in submission wins and is coming of a highly competitive split decision loss to Arman Tsarukyan. Also on the main card, undefeated former All-American wrestler Bo Nickal takes a step up in competition facing perennial contender Paul Craig.

UFC 309 will take place September 11th from the world’s most famous arena Madison Square Garden. We will keep you up to date on newly scheduled preliminary contests as they are announced.

UFC 309 Full Main Card

UFC 309 look like one of the best events of 2024 on paper. The return of Jon Jones is enough to get casual viewers to tune in. But the UFC doubled down on this card with a Lightweight rematch between fan favorite veterans in the Co-Main event. Although their first fight didn’t go passed the second round, it was a wild contest that saw Chandler almost finish Oliveria by TKO in round one.
