Miami’s own Hard Rock Stadium will host the 2023 Miami Open ATP Final, in what should make for an exciting match between No. 5-ranked Daniil Medvedev and #No. 11-ranked Jannik Sinner.

Medvedev looks to reclaim status as the world’s top-ranked player, Sinner is looking to a huge step forward with a victory over the Russian.

In Sinner’s semifinal match against Carlos Alcaraz (ESP), the young Italian won 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2. However, the score does not tell the full story – it was a three-hour dogfight. As a result, it seemed as though Sinner was dealing with injury/fitness issues in what was a physically and mentally taxing match.

Daniil Medvedev defeated fellow Russian and No. 16 ranked Karen Khachanov 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-3 in their semifinal clash. Khachanov gave Medvedev all he can handle in the first two sets, forcing a tiebreak in the first (which he ultimately lost) and winning the second set. Ultimately, Medvedev’s assertive approach on the return willed him to a three-set victory.

Sinner has struggled with first-serve accuracy, having successfully converted on just 58% of his first serves in the 2022 season. For comparison, Medvedev’s first-serve accuracy in 2022 was 64%. If Jannik Sinner struggles with his first serve, Medvedev is surely going to capitalize.

Not to mention, Medvedev has dominated the head-to-head meetings between the two, winning all five of their matchups. The Russian is also a hard-court specialist who comes into this Final winning 23 of his last 24 performances.

Sinner has a powerful style of play that he has combined with newfound aggression throughout this tournament. That is a trend that is going to have to continue if the 21-year-old wants to win the 2023 Miami Open.

Both players head into this match with momentum and excellent form, which should make for a hard-fought match between two of the world’s best.

With that being said, it is slightly shocking to see this match is at near-pick’em odds, with Medvedev even being an underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook (+100). There is value to be had in Daniil Medvedev and it would not be shocking to see him win the Miami Open ATP Final rather easily.

Prediction: Medvedev defeats Sinner in two sets
