Miguel Cabrera Is Calling It A Career.

Today, Miguel Cabrera confirmed his retirement after the 2023 season. The 39 year-old future hall-of-famer has put together an incredible 20 season career with his 21st season being his last. It was speculated that he would be announcing his retirement soon, but the bittersweet feeling still stands as we now know we have only one more season with Miggy.

Miguel Cabrera made his first appearance in the big leagues back in 2003 with the Florida Marlins at only 20 years old. Throughout his career, Miguel Cabrera has put up some historic numbers. In his 20 seasons, Miggy has 507 home runs, 3088 hits, 1,847 RBIs, and a career batting average of .308.

In 2012, Miguel Cabrera took home the Most Valuable Player along with the Triple Crown after leading the league with 44 home runs, 139 runs batted in, and a .330 batting average. If this wasn’t good enough, he managed to bring home a consecutive MVP award the following season.

In 2021, we got to witness Miggy hit his 500th career home run. And in this past season, we got to witness him record his 3000th career hit. He has managed to check all the milestone boxes for the hall of fame, along with having a career WAR of 67.7. But even with the milestones aside, it’s safe to say that Miguel Cabrera will be making his trip to Cooperstown as soon as he is eligible.

One Last Ride For Miggy.

It will be fun seeing Miguel Cabrera go on his retirement tour next season. As baseball fans, we got to say farewell to fellow future hall-of-famer Albert Pujols this past year in his story book finale. It will be sad to see Miggy wrap up a very memorable and fun career, but at the same time, it will be fun to see him have fun out there one more time.
