The Milwaukee Brewers are coming off of an 86-76 season. Though, that’s not a horrible record. It was a season in which the Brewers missed the playoffs for the first time since 2017. For the In-Depth Milwaukee Brewers 2023 Preview, watch below:
When it comes to the Brewers’ pitching staff, you can tell just by looking at the roster. That this pitching staff is the strength of the team. Most importantly, the rotation with Corbin Burnes leading the way. Burnes is a former NL Cy Young Award winner, and two-time All-Star, who posted a 2.94 ERA and over 240 strikeouts in 2023. Brandon Woodruff is also an elite starting pitcher who is coming off a solid 2023 season of his own. Beyond the stellar top two, Freddy Peralta is coming off an injury-plagued campaign in 2022 but is excellent when healthy and on the mound. Aaron Ashby will start the season on the IL, thus the rotation will be rounded out by Eric Lauer and Wade Miley.
The outfield will look a little different with Hunter Renfroe gone. To start the season it looks like Christian Yelich will be starting in Left Field, with Garrett Mitchell and Brian Anderson starting in Center and Right Field respectively. This leaves, Jesse Winker as the designated hitter. The Brewers did fill the need at catcher but William Contreras has never started a full season. As of now, it also looks like Brice Turang will take over at second for Kolten Wong.
