Which team holds the record for most points scored in an NFL game? The Las Vegas Raiders scored 63 points against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football. However, that only puts them in a tie for seventh most points in a game in league history.
The Raiders are not even the only team this season to surpass the 60-point mark, as you will find the Miami Dolphins on this list of the five highest-scoring games by one team in NFL history.
1. 1966 Washington Redskins – 72 points
The 1966 Washington Redskins hold the record for the most points by a single team in an NFL game with 72 points. They accomplished the feat on November 27, 1966, against the New York Giants in a 72-41 victory.
Despite leading the game in total yards and first downs, the Giants committed six turnovers, which included five interceptions. Washington scored 10 touchdowns in the game and added one field goal.
2. 2023 Miami Dolphins – 70 points
Earlier this season, the Miami Dolphins scored 70 points against the Denver Broncos in a 70-20 win.
The Dolphins held Denver to just 69 rushing yards while rushing for 350 yards themselves. Miami had over 700 total yards in the game, which included 309 passing yards from Tua Tagovailoa and 203 rushing yards from De’Von Achane.
3. 1950 Los Angeles Rams – 70 points
On October 22, 1950, the Los Angeles Rams put up 70 points against the Baltimore Colts in a 43-point victory.
The Rams had three players throw for at least one touchdown and four players rush for a touchdown. Both teams combined for 10 turnovers, with six benefiting Los Angeles.
4. 1949 Chicago Cardinals – 65 points
The 1949 Chicago Cardinals defeated the New York Bulldogs 65-20 on November 13, 1949. After being tied 7-7 through one quarter, the Cardinals exploded for 31 points in the second quarter and never looked back.
The Bulldogs committed seven turnovers in the contest, all coming via an interception.
5. 1950 Los Angeles Rams – 65 points
The 1950 Los Angeles Rams are featured on this list twice. A week after scoring 70 points, the Rams scored 65 against the Detroit Lions in a 65-24 win.
Los Angeles scored an incredible 41 points in the third quarter alone and did not score at all in the fourth.
