The NBA is looking into the allegations against Oklahoma City Thunder Guard Josh Giddey, according to Shams Charania.
Several videos went viral on social media this week accusing Giddey, who just turned 21, of having an inappropriate relationship with a minor. On Friday, he was asked about the allegations and he declined to address them:
“I understand the question, obviously, but there’s no further comment right now,” Giddey told reporters.
The Thunder head coach, who was also asked about the allegations and whether or not it may become a distraction. He declined to give an elaborate, referring to it as a “personal matter”.
There has been no indication whether Josh Giddey will continue contributing to the OKC Thunder, while this investigation of the allegations is going on. He has started each of Oklahoma City’s 15 games so far, averaging 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in 27.2 minutes per night for the 11-4 club. Giddey is an emerging young star in the NBA. Just last year, he posted 28 double-doubles and five triple-doubles while averaging 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists.
The Thunder have one of the best young backcourts in the NBA with both Giddey and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
