The Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers play highlights a pivotal night as January basketball closes.

Clippers End January Strong

In a 108-103 road win against the Chicago Bulls, they are now 6-1 in their last seven games. Thanks to the play of power forward Kawhi Leonard averaging 27/6/4 in January and tonight had 33 points, five assists, five steals and two blocks. Leonard had helo from shooting guard Norman Powell, had 27 points and shot 7-11 off the bench. With this win, the Clippers hold their position as the fourth seed in the Western Conference with a critical matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday.

Lakers Survive in OT

After back-to-back losses; the Lakers rebounded with a close road 129-123 victory against the New York Knicks. Small forward LeBron James had a triple-double with 28 points, ten rebounds and 11 assists as he chases the all-time points record. An essential addition to the starting lineup was center Anthony Davis as he finished with 27 points and nine rebounds in his first game starting since his injury. The Lakers will continue their long road trip by playing against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday.

The Greek Freak Continues to Dominate

The Bucks hosted the lowly Charlotte Hornets as small forward Khris Middleton came off the bench as his minutes are increased from an early season injury. Power Foward Giannis Antetokounmpo again took over this game by having 34 points and 18 rebounds as he builds on his potential MVP season. The Hornets put up a fight as point guard LaMelo Ball had a 27/10/11 triple-double, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Eastern Conference second-seeded Bucks won 124-115.
