To begin February, the Tatum-led Boston Celtics continued their dominance while two of the NBA’s best point guards went toe to toe.
Celtics Dominance Over Nets Continues
In the most lopsided game of the night, the Celtics have now won 10 straight against the Brooklyn Nets. Small forward Jayson Tatum started the first quarter hot, as his 18 points were more than the Nets had as a team with 16 points. Boston finished the quarter with 46 points, the highest-scoring quarter of the Celtics season. Tatum had 31 points and nine rebounds in his 29 minutes played as the Celtics cruised to a 139-96 victory. Boston continues to hold its number one spot in the Eastern Conference and will be tested again against Phoenix Suns on Friday.
The Dame & Ja Show
Two of the best point guards in the NBA squared off in a high scoring 122-112 affair as the Portland Trail Blazers edged out the Memphis Grizzlies. Blazers point guard Damian Lillard nearly recorded a triple-double with 42 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists. Lillard has averaged 43 points in his last four games as the Blazers look to make a playoff push. On the opposing side, Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant had 32 points, nine rebounds and 12 assists. Grizzlies will travel on the road to play the Cleveland Cavaliers Thursday night while the Blazers continue their road stretch to play the Washington Wizards Friday.
Kings Winning Ways Continue
