Netflix has always held back on getting into streaming live sports, but this year they became interested with the NBA In-Season Tournament. In July 2023, they launched the NFL Quarterback documentary. The first season featured Kirk Cousins, Patrick Mahomes and Marcus Mariota. After seeing some success throughout the first season, not only has it been renewed. Netflix has piqued interest in other sports.
According to the Athletic’s Shams Charania, Netflix will launch a new documentary featuring NBA players in the near future. However, no name of this new show has been given yet.
The first season will include Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James, Sacramento Kings’ Domantas Sabonis, Miami Heats’ Jimmy Butler, Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum, and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards.
With Netflix already beginning the production of the new NBA Documentary, the name of this show will likely come soon. It has already peaked the interest of many of us here at Fantom Sports. The new docuseries will be a collaborative effort with LeBron James’ SpringHill Company, Barack Obama’s Higher Ground Productions, and Peyton Manning‘s Omaha Productions joining forces to produce the show.
We will likely have a review for not only the show as a whole but also a review of each episode, so stay tuned for that. Jayden and Dacota will talk about the new Documentary on the Hoop Culture podcast as well. They may even discuss some potential names for it this weekend, so make sure to Subscribe to the Fantom Sports YouTube so that you can stay up to date.
The latest NBA docuseries that was portrayed on Netflix was ‘The Last Dance’ which received some success.
