Before the coin flip, the Cowboys knew they were the NFC Champs due to the strength of schedule tiebreaker over the Eagles. Still, that didn’t stop the Cowboys (11-4) from thrashing Washington 56 to 14 and putting their rivals(6-9) playoff hopes on life alert.

Dak Attack and Offense Back on Track

After a rough stretch of games fans were not surprised by the way the first Dallas drive ended. But, as soon as the ball was recovered, Dak showed why he’s the gunslinger for the Cowboys. Moving from the typical drives fans are used to, Prescott continued to go for 28/39 and 4 TDs. More impressively he completed those touchdown passes to four different receivers (including to Terrence Steele) and showed skills in the pocket and the ability to escape the rush that had been missing in recent games.

With receivers CeeDee Lamb (4/66) and Amari Cooper (7/85/1TD) eliminating drops, Dak seems poised to lead an offensive juggernaut in the most important time of the year. Even Ezekiel Elliott looked rejuvenated with a 4.1 carrying average and breaking multiple defenders tackles to score one of his two touchdowns of the day. This is the offense we have been waiting to explode and break down defenses to the point where they are fighting amongst themselves (Johnathan Allen, Daron Payne).

Defense Stays Dominant

The Dallas defense continued their warpath through the NFL’s offensive roster today by terrorizing Washington with two takeaways and four sacks. The defensive line pressured Heinicke play after play, allowing him to complete only 7 of 22 passes, with 1 TD and 2 INTs. After Diggs snagged his 11th INT of the year, Lawrence decided to add to his own stat sheet with an interception he took to the house.

As he has all year, rookie phenom, Micah Parsons, disrupted the offense, gaining another sack to make his total 13, just 1.5 shy of Jevon Kearse’s rookie record. With the offense scoring as often and the multiple defensive stops, it forced the Football Team to move away from one of the better players in Antonio Gibson (6/29), making them one dimensional.

Special teams joined in on the fun today with their own touchdown when Clement blocked Ways’ punt and Golston recovered the ball in the end zone. This game was just another way of the Dallas Defense trying to prove they are the best in the NFL, with the most defensive touchdowns, having six this season.

Chasing the Pack??

With the win over Washington and the team playing the best it has all season, the Cowboys sit #2 in the NFC, just one game behind the Packers for the #1 seed and the playoff bye position. If the Cowboys can continue their winning streak for the next two weeks and Green Bay loses either game, the team can steal the top position in the NFC. The team will continue it’s race against the Cardinals (10-5) next week at home.
