The NFL trade deadline is quickly approaching on November 1st. Teams need to make a commitment to what they want to do for the rest of the season whether that is to buy, sell, or stay put.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are usually a good to great team. With the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers drafted Kenny Pickett in the first round of the 2022 draft to be the quarterback of the future. The Steelers are struggling this season with a record of 2-6 and are at the bottom of the AFC North division. The Steelers offense is young, but if they get any good offers for players they should consider taking them. Pittsburgh has many veterans on defense they can trade to prepare for the future. Cam Heyward has been a great player for years and one of the best defensive lineman in the NFL. They would take on dead money to trade him, but if they can get a good offer they should take it. The Steelers also have many cornerbacks who are decent, they can get assets for them.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have been playing well since they fired head coach Matt Rhule. But, the team has to focus on their future. The Panthers have had poor quarterback play for years now and can put themselves in a great position to take one. The Panthers have veterans they can trade to the highest bidder. Shaq Thompson can help a team’s defense at the linebacker position. They already traded Christian McCaffrey to the 49ers. Carolina can get good assets to build for the future. The Panthers can put themselves in a good position to have a bright future in the NFL.

Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are on track to have the worst record in the NFL and the number one pick in the draft. The team essentially has holes in every part of their roster, but they do have veterans to trade. Brandin Cooks has been a consistent wide receiver for years and can benefit from being traded. Houston can benefit greatly from getting the first overall pick. They would be able to pick the quarterback they want or add a stud pass rusher on defense. Trading veterans will not just help them lose, they would also be giving young players a chance to see what they have in them. The future is more important for the Texans than the rest of this season.
