The third week of the 2021 NFL season is in the books, and boy was it a big one. We saw a record breaking field goal, a 109-yard Kick six, a big upset or two, and a few injuries. But how much of that was telling of the real deal or just flukes that people are overreacting to? Today we are taking a look at some of the most popular “takeaways” from week 3 in the AFC going around social media and deciding if it is an overreaction or if it is a perfect reaction.

The Chargers Are The Real Deal

Ruling: Perfect Reaction

The Chargers looked very good in the upset win over the Chiefs this weekend. Aside from the small section of the third quarter where the Chiefs started coming back, they were in control of this game from the start. They ran the ball well against a poor run defense, and the trio of Allen Williams and Herbert look really solid. Its hard to go into Arrowhead and pull out a victory like that but they did it and the defense held up pretty well against the stacked KC offense. I think the Chargers could make a strong run at the AFC West and potentially further.

Justin Tucker is the Greatest Kicker Of All Time

Ruling: Overreaction

A new NFL record field goal distance set by the guy with a FG percentage of 91% in his career is awesome, and Tucker truly cemented himself as a potential first Ballot HOFer when he retires. As a kicker myself, 66 yards is absolutely mind boggling, but I don’t think it automatically makes him the GOAT Kicker. He is still 34th in FGM (Field Goals Made), and I feel like for him to be considered the GOAT, he has to be closer to the top of that list to get a true comparison of the FG% with Adam Vinatieri.

The Jets Are The Worst Team In The League

Ruling: Perfect Reaction

The Jets seem to have no idea how to play NFL football sometimes. Zach Wilson has thrown 7 INT to 2 TD, he will get better but the offense is not helping him as well as a defense that cant stop anything that has a pulse. They are going to continue to get beat on through most of the season but I think Wilson will start to slowly improve at some point. Keep your head up, Jets fans.

No QB Will Win NFL Offensive ROY

Ruling: Perfect Reaction

None of these Rookie QB’s are playing well so far this season, while guys like Najee Harris and Jamar Chase are having pretty good seasons so far. If the season continues in this trend, I don’t see how any of the QB’s can beat out one of those two for NFL Offensive Rookie Of The Year.

This Is The End Of The Road for Big Ben In The NFL

Ruling: Perfect Reaction

Big Ben is not looking good, and with a bad O-line it probably is not going to improve for him. He’s running out of gas, and its pretty obvious. You can tell he just doesn’t have it anymore sadly.

The Chiefs Are In Trouble

Ruling: Perfect Reaction

Now before you freak out and come in the comments like “This is ridiculous” “He doesn’t know what he is talking about” “do you even know football?”, Hear me out. The don’t look good. They can’t defend the run, the secondary isn’t much better, and Their only solid receiver at this point in the season in Kelce. Hill had a big 75 yard TD in week 1 but has been quiet since. I want to go more in depth with this so I will be giving this its own article, you can find it here.
