This edition of NHL rumors includes news on the Arizona Coyotes, Edmonton Oilers, and Minnesota Wild. Let’s dig right in.

Arizona Coyotes – Jakob Chychrun

Rumor: Per Nick Kypreos – Sportsnet 590 THE FAN. Are the Toronto Maple Leafs interested in Jakob Chychrun? “It’s come to my attention that the one guy that’s probably garnered more calls than any player out there right now. Believe it or not, is Jakob Chychrun from Arizona.”

Analysis: Ever since it was announced that Coyotes could be evaluating the trade market value of Jakob Chychrun, many teams have jumped in showing their interest. The 23-year-old defenseman has an attractive $4.6 million contract through 2024-25.

One such team could be the Maple Leafs per Kypreos.

Another team who would have the assets to complete a prospective trade is the Los Angeles Kings. Kypreos feels it would take four pieces to complete a deal. The Kings have a goldmine of prospects who could entice general manager Bill Armstrong to send Chychrun to LA.

If it took four prospects to get Chychrun, would Gabe Vilaradi, Alex Turcotte, Helge Grans, and Brock Faber do the trick? Two forwards and two defensmen would be a huge return, yet Chychrun seems to be worth it. This is a hot NHL rumor, so stay tuned!

Edmonton Oilers – Mike Babcock

Rumor: Per Stanley Sweeney – nhltraderumors.me. Mike Babcock to the Edmonton Oilers? With the Edmonton Oilers playing poorly of late, NHL rumors are popping up that head coach Dave Tippett’s job may be in jeopardy. Babcock could be the replacement.

Analysis: The Oilers downfall lately (lost six of 10) has not settled well with the fanbase. In their latest loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, team jerseys were thrown out on the ice. This could merely be Holland checking to see if he needs to make a coaching change and if Babcock had any interest.

What makes this possible is that Tippett is in the last year of his three-year deal worth $2.75 million. If the team doesn’t start improving soon, Holland may pull the trigger with a coaching change. Even with Tippett’s excellent points percentage of .612, the Oilers have not progressed in the postseason to expectations.

Minnesota Wild – J.T. Miller

Rumor: Per thefourthperiod.com. Are the Minnesota Wild still interested in adding J.T. Miller to their roster? It was rumored last month that the Wild wouldn’t mind acquiring Miller. Since the Canucks have recuperated a bit since then with Bruce Boudreau leading them to six straight wins, is Miller still on their radar?

Analysis: Much can happen in a short period of time. While Miller would be a good addition to any NHL team, are the Canucks as motivated to shake things up with their recent resurgence? Most any team would love to have Miller’s stats. He has collected 10 goals, 22 assists this season.

Minnesota is still in first place in the Central Division, but the St.Louis Blues and surging Nashville Predators (seven straight wins) are hot on their tail. Could the Wild still entertain adding Miller to give them an advantage?
