Evan Stewart Oregon

It appears that the recruitment tactic from Dan Lanning may have worked. Or maybe former Texas A&M receiver Evan Stewart was already leaning toward Oregon before that but according to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, he will be joining the Ducks.

A 6-foot-1, 175-pounder with two years of eligibility will join a wide receiver room that features many returnees. Including the Ducks No. 2 in receiving yards in 2023 Tez Johnson and former Alabama transfer Traeshon Holden. A group that was already rich, just got richer.

Over two years with the Aggies, Stewart totaled 91 receptions for 1,163 yards and 6 touchdowns. Coming into Oregon, Evan Stewart features to receive a heavy workload. Much like the two names above have when they’ve transferred in. This past season, he posted 38 receptions for 514 yards and four touchdowns in eight games. A leg injury kept him sidelined for the rest of the games.

Stewart could be just the first of many more transfers that we could see make the switch to Oregon. Lanning declining the Alabama job creates some stability for the future at Oregon. Given Johnson’s ability to perform well in the slot, Stewart will have a chance to earn the No. 1 spot as the Ducks look to replace Troy Franklin, who is entering the NFL Draft. Dillon Gabriel, who transferred in from Oklahoma, will have plenty of weapons to throw to in 2023.

If Oregon OC Will Stein is still with the Ducks next season, pending a team calling for him to be an HC. He should have plenty of fun with a new offense.

As they gear up for the B1G, the Ducks have seen brought in many transfers including two quarterbacks, Gabriel and Dante Moore, running back Jay Harris and offensive lineman Matthew Bedford.
