Jackson Powers-Johnson

One of the best Centers in the nation, Jackson Powers-Johnson announced his decision to declare for the NFL Draft earlier today.

“Thank you for giving me the change to live my Dreams,” Powers-Johnson wrote in a farewell note. “I’m headed out to test my mettle in the NFL-Go Ducks Forever!”

The post from Powers-Johnson was one of a kind. He not only thanked the coaches, fans, professors and family but also thanked the University for tests, tutors and the brief moment that he thought he had a touchdown.

Throughout his time at Oregon, he has shifted around on the Offensive Line. Playing anywhere from primarily tackle and guard his first two years. In 2023, he took over at Center for Alex Forsyth who was drafted by the Denver Broncos last season.

Powers-Johnson will be leaping to the NFL after being awarded the Rimington Trophy. The annual award is given to the best center in college football. He was also selected as an Associated Press first-team All-American on Monday, which continued a streak of awards throughout the year for his spectacular 2023 season.

He finished the season as the highest-graded center in the nation, according to Pro Football Focus. He graded out with an 84.3 offense grade, a 90.6 pass block grade, and an 85.2 run block grade—all marks that were No. 1 among centers. The 6-foot-3, 320-pound Offensive Lineman was consistent all season. He possesses the three main qualities of a successful NFL Offensive Lineman: athleticism, quickness and power in space.

The Junior Jackson Powers-Johnson will be the latest Oregon Offensive Lineman to join the NFL Ranks. He’ll join a long list of Oregon Lineman to be drafted over the past couple of seasons including  Penei Sewell (Detroit Lions), Hroniss Grasu (Las Vegas Raiders) and Shane Lemieux (New York Giants).
