Bucky Irving has been one of the best running backs in College Football over the last two years. Though, his time at the University of Oregon is coming to an end. Not because he’s entering the transfer portal but because the Junior Running Back is going pro.
Irving transferred to Oregon from Minnesota following the 2021 season. Over the past two seasons, he has put up consecutive seasons with over 1,000 rushing yards. In 26 games he rushed for 2,121 yards and 15 touchdowns while catching 84 passes for 694 yards and five touchdown catches for the Ducks. Irving rushed for 1,063 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while averaging 6.2 yards per carry. He caught a national best among running backs, 53 passes for 395 yards and two touchdowns.
“First and Foremost, I like to start by thanking God for bringing me this far,” Bucky Irving stated in an Instagram post. “Without him, none of this would be possible. I want to honor my loved ones, My Father, My Grandmother, Darlene and my little brother Jojo. Although they aren’t here with me physically, I know they have been with me every step of the way.”
“To my family, my mother, stepfather, little brother and sister, thank you for your support throughout life and my football journey. I can always count on all of you to be in my corner. Also, I want to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my life, from Youth Coaches, High School Coaches, Administrators, and Teachers. Your support doesn’t go unnoticed and I’m genuinely thankful.
Thank you to the University of Minnesota Football Program, Coach Fleck, Keni Burns, and the Gopher fan base.
Thank you to the University of Oregon Football program, Coach Dan Lanning, Coach Lock, the training staff, and the Duck Nation! My time in Oregon is something that I will never forget and hold dear to my heart. It truly has changed my life.
To my teammates, thank you for pushing me on and off the field. We came to work every day and made each other better. We accomplished great things through hard work, dedication, and competition, and I’m grateful for our time together.
I am truly blessed and humbled by the opportunity to make a lifelong dream come true. That said, I have decided to de for the 2024 NFL Draft!”
Irving will forego his last year of eligibility as he looks towards the NFL.
