What a year is was for Waterdogs Lacrosse Club. In their second season, they jumped from second to last in the league to the top seed. Waterdogs finished 6-3 with a +13 score differential which was enough to break the tie with Atlas. In the end, it was a great run cut short by Whipsnakes. Kieran McArdle and Ryan Brown were lights out at attack. Brown led the team with 20 goals and 21 points. Zach Currier, Connor Kelly, and Mikie Schlosser led the way at midfield. This is a group to watch very closely going forward.
Don’t Change A Thing
Waterdogs should stick with what they are doing. If we have to be critical of something, you can certainly make the argument that the Dogs should get more production from the middle/bottom of the roster offensively. Defense was overall good for them. They just ran into a really good team in team in the semi final round. The draft will have some talent that they can add to an already stout group. Waterdogs should be a favorite to make it to the championship in the 2022 season and has the ability to win the whole thing if they stick to the script.
Final Thoughts
Coach Andy Copeland has done fine work with Waterdogs Lacrosse Club. They had big expectations in the bubble but could not get going. Coming into the 2021 season, it’s safe to say that nobody had Waterdogs on the PLL radar. The biggest advice for this team is don’t make a move just for the purpose of wanting to make a move. Don’t sacrifice a quality player for a big name just for the heck of it. Keep the group together for the upcoming season and see what happens. Waterdogs looks to be in prime position to make a run again and be a dangerous team for years to come.
