TENINO – In a game that seemed like it would be back and forth with a final score of 60-40. The Onalaska Loggers and Kalama Chinooks were trading blows on Friday, the first 2B quarterfinal matchup. The Chinooks through the air and the Loggers on the ground.
The Onalaska QB Kayden Mozingo rushed for 451 yards and five touchdowns as their ground attack could not be stopped in the Class 2B Washington State Quarterfinal matchup. Most of those stats came in the Loggers 32-point third quarter which was aided by two interceptions thrown by Kalama QB Aiden Brown.
It shouldn’t go without saying that the Kalama Defense played well early on. They held the Onalaska to just one first down on its first three possessions of the game. The Chinooks had built a 12-point lead in the second quarter before Onalaska would answer to make it close at half.
The wheels started to fall off for Kalama, who saw their season end at 8-4 in the quarter-finals, in the third quarter. They were held off the board after the opening drive. While, Onalaska had three big runs for over 30 yards result in touchdowns. Two of those by Mozingo and one by Rodrigo Rodriguez.
Brown completed 23 of 50 passes for 362 yards and two touchdowns, and Ethan Brightbill caught 10 passes for 211 yards for the Chinooks.
Onalaska will face the winner of Riverview and Napavine in the Semifinals.
