The Pro Football Hall of Fame revealed its 15 modern-era finalists for the class of 2024 on Wednesday. Among those selected are first-time candidates Julius Peppers and Antonio Gates.
The Hall Of Fame Class Of 2024 Finalists
Eric Allen, DB
Eric Allen spent half of his 14-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles. He had 54 interceptions in his career and was a six-time Pro Bowler.
Jared Allen, DE
Jared Allen played for the Chiefs, Vikings, Bears, and Panthers. He was selected to the Pro Bowl five times and was First Team All-Pro four times.
Willie Anderson, OT
Willie Anderson spent 12 of 13 seasons in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals. He was named to the Pro Bowl every year from 2003-06.
Jahri Evans, OL
Jahri Evans was a six-time Pro Bowler and four-time First Team All-Pro during his 12-year career.
Dwight Freeney, DE
Dwight Freeney spent most of his career with the Indianapolis Colts. He was selected to the Pro Bowl seven times.
Antonio Gates, TE
Antonio Gates made eight straight Pro Bowls from 2004-11. He is seventh on the all-time receiving touchdowns list with 116.
Rodney Harrison, DB
Two-time Super Bowl champion Rodney Harrison played 15 years in the NFL. He was named to the Pro Bowl twice and was a two-time First Team All-Pro.
Devin Hester, PR/KR/WR
Devin Hester was a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time First Team All-Pro. He sits third all-time in punt return yards with 3,695 and first all-time in punt return touchdowns with 14.
Torry Holt, WR
Torry Holt spent 10 seasons with the St. Louis Rams and one with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was named to the Pro Bowl seven times in his career.
Andre Johnson, WR
Andre Johnson was a seven-time Pro Bowler with the Houston Texans. His 14,185 receiving yards are the 11th most in NFL history.
Julius Peppers, DE
Julius Peppers was the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2002. He was a nine-time Pro Bowler, and his 175 tackles for loss are the third most all time.
Fred Taylor, RB
Fred Taylor played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots during his NFL career. He finished with 11,695 rushing yards and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2007.
Reggie Wayne, WR
Reggie Wayne spent his entire career with the Indianapolis Colts. He won one Super Bowl and was selected to the Pro Bowl six times.
Patrick Willis, LB
Patrick Willis played eight seasons in the NFL, all with the San Francisco 49ers. He was named to the Pro Bowl seven times and was First Team All-Pro five times.
Darren Woodson, S
Darren Woodson played for the Dallas Cowboys from 1992-2003. He was a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time First Team All-Pro.
The NFL can induct up to five modern-era players for the class of 2024. The final five must receive at least 80% of the votes from the panel to get into the Football Hall of Fame. The selection committee will trim the list down to five players when they meet Jan. 16-17 in Atlanta.
On Feb. 8 at the NFL Honors show, the league will announce who is in the class of 2024.
