Gracias, Marcelo
Marcelo Viera has officially left Real Madrid after 15 years at the club. In that time, he made 546 appearances, won 25 trophies and scored 38 goals. The Brazilian is undeniably a Real Madrid legend and his legacy will live on forever. He paved the way for many young Brazilians like Vini Jr and Rodrygo to come to the club and helped them settle in perfectly.
He leaves the club on a high, having added three more trophies to his CV. He still desires to play football and says that he doesn’t have a problem with coming up against Real Madrid. “I won’t retire, I think I can still play. Facing Real Madrid? It won’t be a problem. I’m a Madridista but I’m also a big professional.” He will be missed by all Madridistas, but we know the saying, “all good things must come to an end.”
Real reportedly want Bellingham this summer
Weeks ago, the story broke that Real Madrid wants to sign the English midfielder in 2023. Today, there have been rumors that Los Blancos may push for his signature this summer. The midfielders currently at the club are Modric, Kroos, Casemiro, Tchouameni, Valverde, Camavinga and Ceballos. Though Ceballos is most likely leaving, the other six should be more than enough to competently get through next season. However, with the possibility of Modric and Kroos retiring next season, maybe Real are looking to secure Bellingham’s signature as early as possible before competition arises.
Who played today?
Benzema started for France against Modric and Croatia. Croatia won the game 0-1 via a Modric penalty. Modric controlled the midfield as per usual and Benzema tried to make it happen for his team but it wasn’t to be. Tchouameni came on at half time and was immense. He retained and passed the ball well and added energy to the France midfield. David Alaba didn’t come off the bench in Austria’s 2-0 loss to Denmark.
