Asensio- 9/10 Carlo Ancelotti seems to have found a role for the Spaniard to flourish in. He’s playing between the lines and has the license to roam. Topped off his phenomenal performance with a “golazo” in the 51st minute.

STARTING XI

Courtois- 8/10 Ended the game with 51 touches as he was heavily involved in the first phase of play due to Celtic’s high press. Made three great saves, including a penalty.

Carvajal- 6.5/10 Solid performance from the Spaniard. Finished the game with an assist and two chances created.

Militao- 6/10 Unnecessarily gave the ball away a couple times that caused danger to the Whites. Other than that, it was a solid outing for the Brazilian.

Alaba- 7/10 His best performance for the past three matches. Was secure on the ball and stopped many counter attacks.

Mendy- 6.5/10 Courtois saved his blushes after he gave away the penalty. He ended the match with one interception, one recovery and 100% passing accuracy. 

Fede- 8/10 He was the main ball carrier in the midfield and did it excellently. Provided an assist for Vini’s goal and got one of his own in the 71st minute.

Modrić- 7/10 Opened the scoring with a great penalty and improved as the game went on.

Kroos- 8/10 The German was crucial in redictating the tempo of the match as Celtic were on the ascendancy for five to ten minutes in the first and second half. Played the full match as he’s banned for Real’s next league match after picking up a red card against Girona.

Vini Jr- 7/10 Missed two big chances in the first half but made up for it in the second with a deft finish from close range. 

Rodrygo- 8.5/10 It was a great performance from Rodrygo. He dropped deep to link with his teammates and was direct and intelligent in the final third.
