Dayton Moore is Out as President

The Kansas City Royals have fired president of baseball operations, Dayton Moore. This decision came on Wednesday after a long and disappointing 2022 season for the Royals. John Sherman, the owner of the club, gave the announcement in Kauffman Stadium that the Royals will move on from Moore and will be seeking a new candidate this off-season.

Dayton Moore was hired as General Manager of the Royals in 2006. Moore led the team to their second World Series ring in 2015 after a 30-year championship drought. Moore was promoted to President of Baseball Operations for the Royals in 2019. After only three seasons as President and three sub .500 seasons for the Royals, it is clear there needs to be a change.

The Kansas City Royals have fallen into fourth place in the American League Central. After several years of disappointing seasons, it is time for a change in leadership in the front office. Although the past few seasons have been lackluster, the future seems bright with young players like Bobby Witt Jr. and Drew Waters making an impact in their rookie year.

John Sherman went on to say, “There are certainly some bright spots, we love seeing the young players. But I think in 2022, we’re not where we expect to be.”

There is certainly hope for the future with the young stars, but there are still changes that need to be made. This offseason will be interesting for the Royals. With Dayton Moore out as President, the vision is not quite clear for what moves will be made. However, the needs are visible on the field as the wins are still not coming.

Stay tuned for more updates.
