Since her days at Oregon, Sabrina Ionescu has been putting up historic numbers. Becoming the first player (male or female) in NCAA history to record 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 1,000 assists. While also setting the bar (26) in triple-doubles (male and female). A number that might not get touched for quite some time. Sabrina is Oregon’s all-time leader in points, assists, three-point field goals (329), and double-figure scoring games (134). Throughout her four years at Oregon, she recorded 48 career games of 20 points or more, five of 30 points or more, 46 career games with double-digit assists, and 40 games with double-digit rebounds.
Ionescu was drafted No.1 overall by the New York Liberty in the 2020 WNBA Draft, becoming not only the first Oregon women’s basketball to be selected first overall, but also the first to be selected in the first round. She was unanimous to go first after the season she had, and the accolades she racked up. Though she did not stop there.
Her first season was cut short due to season-ending ankle surgery in her rookie season. This year she became the leading scorer for New York, and also leads the team in rebounds and assists.
Though the WNBA, has seen 16 triple-doubles, there had never been a 30-point triple-double until last night, July 6th, 2022. Sabrina Ionescu posted the first 30-point triple-double in WNBA history.
Ionescu now has three triple-doubles in the first three years of her career which ties the record for the most by one player in the WNBA. Sabrina finished with 31 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists. While shooting 7-8 from deep.
