Sasha Banks and Naomi Walk Out of WWE!
The current, as of this article, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions have had enough in WWE. They walked out on RAW during the show. They are reported to have left the titles with John Laurinaitis, who is the current head of WWE Talent Relations.
This comes after weeks of weak booking. They’ve been used in matches but not featured in any major stories. Apparently, they were forested at the lack of creative direction. Further, according to rumors… they were unhappy that they would get booked to lose to the RAW and SD women’s champions. It does seem odd to have champions beating lower-tier champions. This writer believes such a move would undermine a wrestler’s credibility.
WWE released a statement, here is an excerpt.
“They claimed they[Sasha Banks/Naomi] weren’t respected enough as tag team champions. And even though they had eight hours to rehearse and construct their match, they claimed they were uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents even though they’d had matches with those individuals in the past with no consequence. Monday Night Raw is a scripted live TV show, whose characters are expected to perform the requirements of their contract. We regret we were unable to deliver, as advertised, tonight’s main event.”
As a long-time fan of wrestling, this writer finds it unusual that WWE would directly make statements like these. Especially using terms like “scripted.” Further Corey Graves on commentary referred to them as unprofessional. It would not be a surprise if this entire thing turned out to be an angle. Sasha walked out supposedly after WrestleMania 35, and that is now believed to have been an angle to have her feature as a villain on her return. One shouldn’t rule anything out.
If it is a legitimate event, Sasha Banks and Naomi are still under contract. Don’t look for them in AEW. WWE has the power to hold up their contracts and keep them from appearing in any wrestling promotion whatsoever.
Will Sasha & Naomi return? Only time will tell.
