Seattle Mariners were close to making it into the playoffs with a 90-72 record. The Mariners have made many memories this off season so far.

Moves Made

Mariners traded outfielder Corey Rosier and LHP Ray Kerr to the San Diego Padres. Seattle Mariners received Adam Frazier, who plays 2B and OF, in return for the trade.
Pitcher Robbie Ray joined the team. He entered free agency after playing for the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Detriot Tigers chose RHP Elvis Alvarado as the 11th pick in the MiLB Rule 5 Draft. He was the seventh player selected from the board. RHP Nolan Hoffman went number one overall to the Baltimore Orioles.

In the MiLB Rule 5 Draft, Mariners chose OF Tanner Kirwer from the Blue Jays. The Mariners also selected outfielder Walking Cabrera and RHP Tommy Wilson. Tommy Wilson comes to the Mariners from the Mets.

Alberto Rodriguez and Julio Rodriguez earned their spots on the Mariners 40-Man Roster. They both are outfielders. RHP Andres Munoz’s contract was extended to a four-year deal with club options.

Kyle Seager entered free agency after the season but decided to retire. He retired as a Mariner.
His retirement as a Mariner created an addition to the Mariner’s memorable off-season.

Meaning For The Mariners

Each guy the Seattle Mariners add will have an impact on the season where ever they are placed. They add meaning to the organization.

OF Julio Rodriguez ended the 2021 season hitting .347, scoring 64 runs, 19 doubles, two triples, smashing 13 home runs, 47 RBIs, stole 21 bases, walked 43 times in 74 games between High-A Everett and Double-A Arkansas.
Overall he is hitting .331, 177 runs scored, 58 doubles, 15 triples, smashing 30 home runs, 152 RBIs, 32 stolen bases, walked 98 times in 217 games. These career stats combined playing for DSL Mariners, Single-A West Virginia, Low-A Modesto, High-A Everett, and Double-A Arkansas. Julio will be a phenomenal player offensively and defensively. His bat has power.

OF Alberto Rodriguez ended the 2021 season hitting .295, scoring 80 runs, 31 doubles, five triples, ten home runs, 65 RBIs, 15 stolen bases, 53 walks in 100 combined games between Low-A Modesto and High-A Everett. June 14 until the end of the season, he hit .342.
Alberto became the average batting leader in Low-A West. He will add power with his bat and help on defense.

RHP Robbie Ray will have a significant impact on the mound. He is a starting pitcher. In 2021 starting 32 games, he won 13 games, losing 6 games. A 2.84 ERA, 248 strikeouts, walking 52 batters over 193 1/3 innings. Robbie relies on his four-seam fastball and slider. His other two pitches are his curveball and changeup. During the 2021 season, opponents hit .222 off his fastball, only hitting .173 off his slider. Robbie tallied 116 strikeouts with this fastball and 122 with his slider.

Adam Frazier is a left-hander who plays mainly 2B but can play at 3B, LF, and RF. His fWAR last season was 3.5. The addition of Adam is excellent, with him being a utility player and being left-handed. He can get on base.

OF Tanner Kirwer has speed. He is a base stealer stealing 43 bases in 83 games played, only getting caught five times. He will contribute with his speed.

Walking Cabrera, an outfielder, adds displicine at the plate and has an exit velocity of 113 mph.
RHP Tommy Wilson dominates with his fastball and changeup pitches. His fastball can jump to 95-96 mph. On the mound, he will contribute with his fastball and changeup.

Andres Munoz’s receiving an extension he will continue his contributions to the pitching rotation. He is one of the keys in the bullpen.
Andres is a reliever who throws excellent pitches. His pitches can get up to 103 mph.

In conclusion, the Mariners have made many memories this off season, while preparing for the 2022 season. With each move made, the guys will contribute with their talent. All of these guys are unique in their abilities. The off season additions are just the beginning to prepare for the upcoming season.
Kyle Seager retiring makes this off season more memorable. He retired as a Mariner. He will be missed in Seattle, creating a lasting impact.
