Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners have some very intriguing prospects now, and that’s all thanks to Jerry Dipoto.

For years, the Seattle Mariners had prospects that were rushed to the Majors. But now, the Mariners have a general manager and a head coach who care about the development of the team and the players. Jerry Dipoto sent a lot of mariners fans into a frenzy when he decided it was time for the team to go into a rebuild. Not a retool like the Mariners have been doing since 2001 but a true rebuild where there will be growing pains watching the team, but it will also be fun to watch the young players grow.

First Round of Talent

In the year 2020, the Seattle Mariners saw quite a few players make their major league debuts. The list of players that made their debuts includes; First Baseman Evan White, 1B/OF Jose Marmolejos, Catcher Joseph Odom, and Pitchers Aaron Fletcher, Anthony Misiewicz, Joey Gerber, Ljay Newsome, and Yohan Ramirez.

The team was very surprising to watch in 2020, as Evan White flashed the glove-like we thought he would but struggled at the plate. We also saw JP Crawford grow into an all-around shortstop for the Mariners.

The First Round of Talent has proved to be what the Mariners thought it would be, led by American League Rookie of the Year Kyle Lewis, the prospects have some bright futures ahead of them.

To end the first round of talent to make the major leagues, Taylor Trammel made his MLB Debut this year.

Second Round Of Talent

On May 13th, 2021, The Seattle Mariners called up two of their top prospects. They called up both Jarred Kelenic and Logan Gilbert. Since being called up both players have struggled, with Kelenic hitting just .179 and Gilbert pitching to a 9.45 ERA through 6.2 innings. Though, these are some understandable hiccups that both players will get through very soon.

Logan Gilbert is the first of the highly-touted pitching prospects for the Mariners. The others include George Kirby and Emerson Hancock who are both at Advanced A.

We could see another prospect make his major league debut within the coming weeks at the earliest in Cal Raleigh. We could also see a prospect make his debut for the Mariners next month or early July as Andres Munoz is still working his way back from tommy john surgery.

Third Round of Talent

The third round of talent will be head by Julio Rodriguez, and Emerson Hancock. This is also where we will see George Kirby make his major league debut.

Although there will be more players along the way, the future looks bright for the Mariners in 2022/2023.
