Man United traveled to Spain to take on the six time Europa League champions Sevilla. After a two all draw in the first leg, both teams had all to play for in this match.
1st Half: Sevilla Dominance
Sevilla started off on the front foot. Pressing aggressively and moving the ball with purpose.
Sevilla’s high pressing scheme turned out to be successful in the seventh minute. David de Gea played an unconvincing pass to Maguire who was afforded no time to turn. His pass went straight into former Spurs winger Erik Lamela who then played it into En-Nesyri and he made no mistake with his finish. Sevilla now take the lead on the night and on aggregate.
United started to grow into the game. Sancho and Martial were getting on the ball and making things happen. Antony’s blocked shot fell to Wan Bissaka on the edge of the box but he couldn’t generate enough power to test Bounou.
Minutes later, Gudelji played a rabona cross into the box after his first touch took him away from Lindelof. The goal scorer, En-Nesyri, flicked his header towards the far post but De Gea gathered.
Antony created United’s second chance of the match. He cut inside and whipped a cross into the box and his Brazilian teammate Casemiro connected with it but failed to convert.
Sevilla easily cut through United’s press in the 38th minute. The ball then fell to the feet of Lamela who showed neat feet to work a shooting angle but his shot was saved by De Gea.
Ocampos thought he doubled his team’s lead five minutes before halftime but it was ruled out for offside.
Ten Hag’s men were fortunate that they went into the locker room being only one nil down.
2nd Half

Sevilla started the second half in similar fashion to the first and scored within three minutes of the restart.
Bade got on the end of Rakitic’s cross and looped his header over a stranded De Gea. Sevilla lead five two on aggregate and United had a mountain to climb.
Rakitic tried to curl one into the net but De Gea put it out for a corner. The Croatian’s corner caused United all sorts of problems but Casemiro cleared the ball after a series of missed opportunities by Sevilla.
Casemiro found himself with some room to operate in and he tried a left footed shot from outside the box but Bounou saved.
Sevilla deservedly qualify for the Europa League semi final where they’ll fight to reach the finals and win the competition.
