Just a few days into being the GM of the New York Mets. Billy Eppler is making splashes already. He has signed Eduardo Escobar, Mark Canha, and now according to Jon Heyman the Mets have signed Starling Marte.

The New York Mets were a team that were great out of the gates, but struggled in the second half of the season. Eppler is adding some much needed depth to the lineup.

With not very many CF’s available in Free Agency, Marte is the best on the market. Marte split the 2021 campaign between the Marlins and A’s, posting a .310/.383/.458 line with 12 home runs and an MLB-best 47 stolen bases in just 120 games. He was a 2016 All-Star and two-time Gold Glove award winner, he’s coming off perhaps the best season of his ten-year big league career.

Though Marte will be out with a rib fracture for the first month of the season.

This is breaking news.

More to come.
