Team USA was announced – who starts?

The Mens Basketball team for Team USA in the Tokyo Olympics has been fully announced.

The team features man star and second option players, but the one thing that the team lacks is depth at Center. With the roster being announced, it’s time to look at who will start for Team USA. As well as the rotation.

Starters

PG – Damian Lillard

This one is kind of an obvious choice with Lillard being the only true Point Guard on the roster. The Portland Trail Blazers star has wanted to play for team USA for a while now but had always been cut from the roster. Now, that Lillard is well into his prime, he has shown thousands of times why he deserves to be on the roster. During the All-Star game Lillard showed out with 32 points, 8 three-pointers (one of which was pulled up at half court). Should Team USA fall behind in a game, Gregg Popovich should know that he can to Damian Lillard late in the game to pull the team back ahead.

SG – Devin Booker

A tough decision at the two-guard: Zach LaVine, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal are all amazing candidates to have as your starter. But I’m going to say that Devin Booker should be the starter. Booker has led the Suns past the Los Angeles Clippers in the first two games of the Western Conference Finals without Chris Paul.

SF – Kevin Durant

The only player that has experience for team USA as a starter. Kevin Durant can slide in at the three or the four. Durant’s Brooklyn Nets did not make it to the NBA Finals this year, so it makes for KD to join the team, and he might lead the team to another gold medal

PF – Jayson Tatum

It will be kind of universal that you could start Tatum or Durant at the three and the four. But for now, I think Tatum slots into the Power Forward position..

C– Bam Adebayo

With only one 7- footer on the roster, Bam is an easy choice for the starting center position.

Bench

Bradley Beal

Zach LaVine

Kevin Love

Draymond Green

Jrue Holiday

Khris Middleton

Jerami Grant

Team USA is going to have a well balanced roster between scoring and defense. With Popovich at the helm, the team should easily be able to win Gold.
