The WWE Women’s Titles Should Not be Unified!
There is talk of a lot of WWE titles being unified. I don’t like two mens’ world titles becoming one. However, at least there are benefits World Title Unification. The Intercontinental and United States title could become more featured. But there is one title unification that should absolutely be avoided.
Unifying the women’s titles would be a bad business move. Charlotte Flair, Becky, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Asuka, Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, and Alexa Bliss are all easily the biggest 8 female stars in WWE right now.
If you restrict to just one title, you have a problem. For most of these women, the title represents creative success in WWE. If you unify them for real, several women will no longer be able to have a real shot at being champions.
This writer wouldn’t be surprised if there was some truth to Charlotte Flair looking at going to AEW last year. The defection ultimately didn’t happen. Because If Charlotte was looking at leaving when there were two titles, what would hold her in WWE if there is only one champion and it’s not her? What about the other women who would want it?
I believe in an era of one women’s championship, that several women would leave WWE. This writer believes that at least 3 of the 8 women wrestlers I previously mentioned would leave one way or another. Most of the WWE mid-carders would leave as well. However, several stars would fall into the mid-card leaving the current mid-card struggling for the spots that they were barely holding on to, just last year. Even one of the top 8 stars in WWE would be a huge boost if she jumped to AEW.
Whatever WWE does, this is one title they should not unify the titles. Maybe they won’t because they had a chance to do just that when Becky Lynch held both titles. But they quickly spun one of them off to Bayley. We’ll see…
