Phillies, Astros, and Padres Could Clinch Today.

Today brings a day full of postseason baseball. With a full schedule of all four Division Series games happening in one day, it’s possible we could see three teams clinch a spot in the Championship Series. This postseason has brought us some memorable moments and some teams are looking to continue their journey tonight. Here are the matchups for today’s possible clinching games:

The Atlanta Braves vs The Philadelphia Phillies

The first game we will see today is between the The Atlanta Braves and The Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies are up on the Braves 2-1 in this series, and are looking to rely on veteran starting pitcher, Noah Syndergaard. The Braves will try to survive another day today with right-hander Charlie Morton on the mound. The reigning champions Braves were the favorite going into this series, but with the help of a couple home runs from Rhys Hoskins and Bryce Harper in yesterday’s 9-1 victory, the Phillies are one game away from advancing to the NLCS.

The Houston Astros vs The Seattle Mariners

The next game we will see today is between The Houston Astros and The Seattle Mariners. The Mariners broke a 21-game playoff drought in which they dominated Toronto in the Wild Card Series. However, the first two games of the ALDS have been rather disappointing for the Seattle ball club. A walk-off home run from Yordan Alvarez gave Houston momentum going into game two. And with that momentum brought another dominant performance from the offense, with another home run from Alvarez. The series has gone back to Seattle for today’s game, with a matchup between Lance McCullers and George Kirby. This is Seattle’s first home postseason game since 2001. Will they continue fighting for the home crowd? Or will the Astros return to the ALCS for the sixth year in a row?

The Los Angeles Dodgers vs The San Diego Padres

This is the one that nobody saw coming. Today, The San Diego Padres will be looking to clinch against their division rivals, The Los Angeles Dodgers, to advance to the NLCS. The Padres this season are 14-5 against the record-setting 111 wins Dodgers. However, with help from key players like Manny Machado and Trent Grisham, the Padres are only one win away from advancing to the Championship Series. Tonight’s matchup brings Tyler Anderson against Joe Musgrove. This season has been very testing for the Padres, will they pull ahead tonight against the powerhouse Dodgers? Or will the Dodgers come back to their true form and dominate in October?
