#8 Notre Dame will be playing their first home game this week against Toledo. Notre Dame is coming off a hard-fought win in week 1. However, Toledo is coming off a dominating performance during week 1. This game will show us many things about both teams. Will Toledo make it a close game? Or will Notre Dame just dominate the who game?
Toledo Rockets
Toledo dominated their first game, 49 to 10 against Norfolk State. Their offense had a great game with 441 total yards. They had 236 passing yards with three different players. Carter Bradley had 183 yards, Dequan Finn had 38 yards and Tucker Gleason had 15 yards. In addition, they also had many players that had rushing yards that added up to 205 yards. However, their offense was not the only side of the ball that did anything. Toledo’s defense held Norfolk State to 272 total yards. Their special teams were scoring for the team as while but not in the way you would think. They had two blocked punts that they returned for touchdowns.
Toledo must play a lot better on offense and defense against Notre Dame. For instance, Notre Dame is bigger and better than Norfolk State. Toledo must continue to score on more than just offense. Therefore, they must stop the Notre Dame offense and get some luck on offense, then it will be a close game for them. Toledo must play a much different and better game than they did again Norfolk.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Notre Dame had a hard-fought first game that ended up going to overtime. They barely squished past Florida State, only winning 41 to 38. Their offense had a great game having 431 total yards. They had a great passing game with having 366 yards, but they could not get a good footing in the rushing game with only having 65 total rushing yards. Their new starter, Jack Coan had all 366 passing yards. However, the bad thing that came from the game was that their defense let up 442 total yards and a couple of big plays. Their defense did have a couple of interceptions.
Notre Dame needs to continue right where they left off. Their defense needs to finish off games and not allow big plays. However, the offense was amazing in passing but they must rush the ball better and block off the line better. There were also many dropped passes that would have ended the game before overtime. They need to secure the ball before they start to run.
Notre Dame vs Toledo will be a game that Notre Dame will dominate. Notre Dame is the better all-around team. Toledo will not have the chance to score 49 this game. Notre Dame will take control of the game early and keep their foot on the gas the whole game.
My prediction is Notre Dame 49 and Toledo 10.
