It may finally be the end of the Tom Brady era. For real this time. Tom Brady is expected to retire at the end of the season according to Mike Jones of The Athletic. Per Jones, many NFL insiders “believe” Brady will be closing out his career rather than following through with a 24th season.

Brady himself has been adamant in interviews about continuing his career, even after circulating rumors suggesting his divorce was a result of his unwillingness to balance his work and home life. The Bucs struggles are a major factor in the decision. They are first in the NFC South, but at 6-7 they are not a threat to more elite playoff teams. Injuries have hampered the Bucs offense and head coach Todd Bowles is already finding himself on the hot seat.

After Tom Brady first retired, there were rumors he wanted to get involved in the Miami Dolphins ownership. When that didn’t work, Brady moved on to signing a deal with FOX Sports to a commentator role. Ultimately, as we all know, Brady found his way back into Tampa Bay. Now, amidst rumors of another retirement, are murmurs of Brady possibly returning to the Patriots.

The only thing for anyone to say for certain is, whether Tom Brady will retire or not, we’ve not seen the last of him.
