His game was always based on doing the “simple” things well which is why he’s never had that level of hype throughout his career. But it’s a fact that he’s in the top ten midfielders of this generation.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
They call him Kvaradona for a reason. He marries his technical ability, skill and speed with quality decision making in the final third which makes him a threat whenever he plays. Carlo Ancelotti said that Napoli’s scouting department were keeping tabs on the Georgian when he was there in the 2018/19 campaign which shows that his talent was always evident.
Tune into one Napoli game and you won’t regret it. This guy is the real deal and he’ll be influential if the Gli Azzurri are to win the Scudetto this season.
Nicolo Barella
Big performances in both ties against Barca and most recently against Salernitana has given the Italian the license to enter into our Top Five list. He’s crucial to Inter’s system because he aids in the first and second phase while always being an outlet down the right flank through third man runs etc.
Inter are one win away from securing qualification into the last 16 and they’ll want to do it in style at home to Viktoria Plzeň.
Mohamed Salah
Salah is having a poor season by his standards. His performances have been unconvincing and he’s struggling to play the new role given to him. However, three goals in 6 minutes against Rangers and the winner in a must win game against Man City is enough for him to enter this list. Liverpool fans will be elated with his recent form and hope that he can continue.
Lautaro Martinez
The Argentine is having a great season so far. Two goals and an assist in his last two games allows him to close off this week’s edition of Top Five players in the world.
