Tua Reset Expectations Of Him And Miami
The arm strength is not at Justin Herbert‘s or Patrick Mahomes‘ level. Tua Tagovailoa showed that with Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill it may not matter. All three players helped Miami come from 21 down in the fourth for a 42-38 win against the Baltimore Ravens. The Dolphins wide receiving duo helped Tua reset the narrative surrounding him.
Six touchdowns, four in the fourth quarter, help to do that. 469 yards looks very nice, especially against the Ravens defense. A duo not seen in Miami since the Marks Brothers makes life easier for any quarterback. Both receivers turn short, quick passes, into long gains. Hill ran by the Ravens secondary for two long scores as well. It took all three’s spectacular efforts to bring the team back Sunday.
Dolphins Defense Recovers To Keep Miami In Game
Lamar Jackson‘s day deserves acknowledgement: 318 passing yards, 119 rushing, four total touchdowns. His passer rating, 142.6, showed him to be a capable passer from the pocket. Why did his team come up short?
On a day when the Dolphins surrendered three plays over 75 yards they also had two huge fourth down stops. One of them came on fourth and goal at the one when Jackson fumble the snap. Yes, his second half was solid, but Miami’s three stops enabled the team to rally. Surrendering just 28 yards rushing to the Ravens running backs did not hurt either.
Dolphins True Measuring Stick Against Bills Sunday
2-0 after stealing a victory against a team the Dolphins have struggled against, before the last two games, is nice. Ending an 0-7 streak versus the Buffalo Bills would make Miami true contenders. Buffalo outscored the Dolphins 258-113 in those games.
The Dolphins have to find a way to pressure Josh Allen and force turnovers. That is when Miami’s defense is at its best. The Bills pass rush looked better than last year against the Los Angeles Rams. Tua must be sharp with quick throws, and the running game must continue to show growth as well. Next Sunday all three phases must be at their best to defeat Buffalo. If they can then it would prove that the win in Baltimore was a stepping stone to bigger things.
