There is no debate about where the basketball capital of the world is, the answer is simple it’s UConn. The Huskies coming off their fifth national championship look to be even more dangerous than last year.
Uconn one of the bluebloods in college basketball, is miles ahead of the field this year and doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. After losing key players to the NBA draft such as Jordan Hawkins, Andre Jackson Jr, and Adama Sanogo, few thought that UConn would drop a little starting off the 2024 season at sixth in the rankings.
UConn is now midway through February posting a 24-2 record and the No. 1 team in the country is dominating every team in their path. The Huskies have topped five of the six top 25 teams in the country. After beating fourth-ranked Marquette by 28, the Huskies belong in their own category.
No. 1 seed for March
The topic of who should be the number one seed for the NCAA tournament is becoming clearer by the week. The Huskies have a better team overall than the Boilermakers. Both teams have beaten Top 25 teams this year in dominating fashion.
We are witnessing two heavyweights heading into March going full steam ahead, it will come down to who wins their conference tournament as the committee will have a tough decision to make. Both resumes are neck and neck as we can possibly be seeing these two in the title game.
In addition, Dan Hurley’s squad has a chance to become the eighth team in NCAA history to win back-to-back titles joining Oklahoma State, Kentucky, San Francisco, UCLA, Cincinnati, Duke, and Florida.
Not only are we possibly on the verge of history, but we are seeing UConn returning to its glory as the program to beat year in and year out as March runs through Storrs.
