UFL Week 3

The two-time defending USFL Champion Birmingham Stallions ride to an impressive win in their home opener. The XFL Conference leading San Antonio Brahmas fall to the team with the best name in the spring football league. Meanwhile, it was a tough weekend for all of Texas as the other two teams in the Lone Star State also came up on the short end of the stick. Let’s check out the UFL Week 3 recap.

UFL Week 3: Birmingham Stallions 33 | Memphis Showboats 14

The most successful team in the USFL continues its winning ways in the UFL. Adrian Martinez helped the Birmingham Stallions jump out to an early lead over the Memphis Showboats and never look back. Martinez completed 18 of 28 passes for 344 yards and three touchdowns to earn player of the game honors. He’s the first quarterback to pass for 300 yards in a game since the merger. Ricky Person Jr. and C.J. Marable each rushed for a touchdown as the Stallions stampeded to a 3-0 record.

UFL Week 3: D.C. Defenders 29 | Arlington Renegades 28

While the defending USFL Champions are cruising, the defending XFL Champions are struggling. The Arlington Renegades hosted the D.C. Defenders in their home opener. In the 2023 XFL playoffs, Arlington upset the Defenders, who were best team in the XFL, on their way to the championship. This game came down to the wire, but D.C. hit a field goal as time expired to snag the 29-28 win and score a modicum of revenge against the Renegades. Arlington remains winless while D.C. now sits tied with San Antonio for the best record in the XFL Conference.

UFL Week 3: Michigan Panthers 34 | Houston Roughnecks 20

Arlington isn’t the only winless team in Texas. Houston traveled to Michigan hoping to win their first game since becoming the only XFL team to move to the USFL Conference during the merger. The Roughnecks and Panthers played a close game as Michigan led 12-11 at the half. But, unfortunately for Houston, the second half belonged to Michigan. Panthers QB E.J. Perry tossed one touchdown pass and rushed for two others as Michigan won 34-20. Houston remains winless on the season, but one 0 will go next week when the Roughnecks face the Renegades.

UFL Week 3: St. Louis Battlehawks 31 | San Antonio Brahmas 24

While Arlington and Houston entered the weekend with no wins, San Antonio entered with no losses. That changed as the defending XFL MVP led the St. Louis Battlehawks to victory in the Lone Star State. A.J. McCarron completed 19 of 27 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for a touchdown as St. Louis came out on top. San Antonio, St. Louis and D.C. are all now tied at 2-1 on top of the XFL Conference.
