Taylor Crabb is out for the US Beach Volleyball team. He has tested positive for COVID and will not be allowed to compete. Tri Bourne is now the new partner for Jake Gibb. Two sets was all they needed. They beat the Italian team of Adrian Carambula and Enrico Rossi 21-18, and 21-19. The craftiness and experience of Carambula was not enough to push the Italians over the edge. Carambula busted out the signature sky ball serve in the match which was impressive to look at. But, the Americans were ready for it and new what to do.

Didn’t See This Coming

Bourne and Gibb have only had two practices together before they took on the Italy duo. They seemed very comfortable and in sync. It seemed like they have been playing with each other for years. Bourne had to step away from the sport for two years due to illness. But now, he on the worlds biggest stage. This was certainly an unforeseen curveball for the US. However, the pivot to call Bourne in is working out so far and his love for the sport has bee refreshed.

The US beach volleyball team is now 2-1 as the prelims continue.
