The USMNT enters the match with high expectations thanks to a squad bolstered by emerging talent and experienced campaigners. But the host nation is hungry for a statement game after their 5-1 loss to Colombia and 1-1 draw to Brazil.

Thankfully, Berhalter’s squad will start out the competition as heavy favorites against an easier opponent in Bolivia. However, La Verde is not to be taken lightly as they have upset some of the best teams in South America.

Bolivia enters the tournament having lost their past three international friendlies against Mexico, Colombia, and Ecuador. With five losses in their last six games, Bolivia are one of the lowest-ranked South American national teams. Last time at Copa America in 2021, Bolivia was eliminated in the group stages after losing all four of their matches at the tournament and things haven’t gone much better for them since.

USMNT vs. Bolivia Prediction

Despite losing one of their top players in Sergino Dest to a knee injury, the United States should win comfortably in their first game. It also presents the perfect opportunity for Joe Scally, the new starting right-back to get comfortable on the big stage. In their last three meetings, Bolivia failed to score a goal against the USA, and I don’t think it will happen today.

Prediction: 2-0 USA
