With 1 min 28.100 secs Max Verstappen took P1 in the last practice session of the Saudi Arabian GP. His Red Bull team mate, Sergio Perez performed well after a disappointing Friday. He was behind Lewis Hamilton in P3. Hamilton, who topped in both the previous sessions at the new Jeddah Corniche Circuit was at P2. The seven-time world champion lagging with 0.2 secs.

The surprise came with Yuki Tsunoda who took his AlphaTauri at P4. The rookie finding great pace ahead of his team mate, Pierre Gasly who stood at P5.

The other Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas was lacking pace, he was at P6. The Ferrari of Charles Leclerc who suffered a heavy impact at Turn 22 yesterday, was good to go today. Also without requiring a chassis change. He was at P7 and behind him was Carlos Sainz at P8.

The McLaren team was not able to put with the prancing horses. Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo were at P10 and P14 respectively.

Other Highlights

There were a few instances of yellow flags, mostly because the drivers locked up and went wide into Turn 1. The run-off area giving them an easy breath in the unforgiving tight circuit.

Mixed tyres were tested by the teams. Lance Stroll had to go to his garage after a puncture was noticed. He later came out and positioned his Aston Martin at P15.

There was a little moment between Hamilton and Mazepin. The title contender was in the way of the backbencher. Mazepin, however saved both the cars by changing his direction. He went outside and rejoined in front of Hamilton.

It’ll be a chaos in qualifying when all the 20 cars will come out to save themselves from elimination. Traffic in a high speed street circuit doesn’t look like fun. For the drivers that is.
